A few strategies to turn real estate into a great business model
Yes, it's a short week but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be thinking about money and/or real estate!
As I write this, a few solitary rays of sunshine are breaking through the clouds. Is this … I mean, could this possibly be … no. I can’t believe this: I feel a resemblance of warmth on my skin. I am shocked. The Easter bunny brought chocolate (exactly 239 million replicas of itself apparently?) and decent weather for a double whammy of happiness. Yes, I always thought talking about the weather was a sign of old age (basically anything beyond 32) and a boring life. I had to get significantly older AND suffer through a pandemic to understand that, in fact, the weather is the number one thing that changes moods. For me, personally, but surely in a greater, societal context as well? Academics are unsure (but believe me enough to at least start a few peer reviewed studies?) - but I stand by my thesis, albeit not entirely proven beyond anecdotal evidence: The sun peeking out changes how a block, a city, maybe a whole country feels and, subsequently, behaves. In the famous words of Fleabag’s sister: Hair IS everything. Exchange “hair” with “sun” and we are on the same page. Amazing.
Another reason why I love the nice weather? Because I am old enough to also enjoy walks these days, which, in my case means city walks (I don’t think you can get more urban than Berlin). Waking around allows me to take a closer look at real estate in surrounding neighbourhoods and ask questions like “what’s being built”, “what might this cost” and, most importantly “why is this so ugly?”. Which kinda relates to today’s newsletter topic and the general question of how one can make money with real estate. Sharing some of our answers but also lots more in terms of further reading below. Let’s get to it!
